In the summer of 1999, ten years after founding Front Street Grill,
we launched our newest venture, Stillwater. This endeavor is the result
of our desire for a venue to showcase our fine food and wines and
present them in a casual waterfront setting. In short, we wanted to open
a place where we would really like to go.
The restaurant's location on the Historic Beaufort Waterfront offers
spectacular views. The interior of Stillwater is warm and casually
elegant, enhanced by crisp white linens and fresh flowers.
The restaurant has all ABC permits and serves lunch, dinner and a Sunday
brunch. Reservations are highly recommended for dinner; however, walk-in
guests are welcome.
Stop in by car or boat!
Tracey’s husband Don Holloway owner of Juice Wine Purveyors, a
distributor of fine artesian and boutique wines, keeps us up to date
with the latest great wines such as Orin Swift Prisoner, Blackbird and
Dunn Vineyards, the restaurant is a perennial winner of the prestigious
Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
In addition to our dedication to quality, we always keep another maxim
in mind: Beaufort is a vacation spot. No matter how elegant the meal or
dining experience, how crisp the white linens napkins and tablecloths,
how spectacular the view, we are determined that the visitors to the
restaurant feel comfortable and relaxed while being pampered – not put
upon by stuffy waiters and sommeliers. There’s no pretence at Stillwater. We were told that what we were trying to do was too sophisticated, but
we stuck by our guns and never changed. That was 18 years ago and
business has been great ever since.
Today, Front Street Grill at Stillwater remains a family-run business.
“Working with family can have its ups and downs,” they admit, “but
blood is thicker than water. We have a great time."
